Hand Embroidery Artisan - Stitches and Threads

Basic temporary stitches

Objectives: At the end of this exercise you shall be able to
• construct the temporary hand stitches of even and uneven basting stitch
• construct the temporary hand stitches of diagonal and slip basting stitch
• construct the permanent hand stitches.

Requirements
Tools/Equipments/Instruments Materials/ components
• Needles - as reqd. • Fabric - as reqd.
• Hoop - as reqd.
• Thimbles - as reqd.
• Thread cutter - as reqd.

PROCEDURE
TASK 1: Construct the even and uneven basting stitch
1 Fix the fabric in the hoop. (Fig 1) 4 Sew running stitch on the fabric. (Fig 4)

2 Thread a needle use long cotton thread in a contrast
color. (Fig 2)

5 Finish the area
6 End the line of the stitching. (moving from one dot to
the next). (Fig 5)
3 Insert the needle and start the stitch as shown in Fig 5
Fig 3 for even and uneven stitch.
